Weekend in Juarez

So I am happy to report that we finally got to see some cool wildlife! We saw a coyote and a bunch of road runners. I have been trying to take a picture of them but they are just too fast for me!

This weekend was fun. We went with our El Paso friends to Juarez, Mexico Friday night. We went to this restaurant that was like a dinner theatre and saw an amazing show with Mariachi's, dancers and a lasso guy! The food was so good and the drinks we never ending..and cheap. The place was decorated to the extreme and the colors were awesome. Here is a pic of the band but the pic does not do it justice! Below are the dancers..

Then we went out to some bars and that was quite a scene. There were two bands, a mariachi and a band like a mariachi but there were drums. They had a music war going on and would alternate playing songs. The place was packed but rather classy and relaxed. They have this thing at the bars there where a guy walks around with a shock machine and you all hold hands and then the person on the end holds onto the metal piece and he starts the shock machine. We didn't do it but saw it and it was so odd. Why would you want to get shocked voluntarily?

Saturday we went to downtown El Paso, hoping to find a cool restaurant to eat at, but they were either nasty or too $$$$$. I guess downtown is in the middle of being renovated so there is no middle ground either poor or rich. We walked around for a while and then decided to head to this place Carlos and Mickeys for lunch. It is pretty famous around here and every time we have asked people where to go we have been told to go there. It was very good but the service was rather slow. I would go back thought, the atmosphere is great and they have a live band at nights. Saturday night we went with our friends to this bonfire. We went into the desert and got to go off roading. It was so nice out and the views of the city were awesome! They only mishap was that we may have spilled some gas in the trunk! Oh well, I cleaned it up! Then we went to some bars downtown but didn't stay too long since we all smelled like smoke.

Sunday, we went to our army friend's house to watch the Dallas game. A bunch of their friends came over and it was cool to hear their stories about Westpoint and being in the Army here. One guy is leaving for Japan this week!
Today we are back at work but it is a little windy and cold.

Hope everyone is doing well!
