Days 4 & 5: So the Work Begins

If I don't lose 10 lbs by the time I get home...

Yesterday and today were our first work days. My team spent the majority of our day checking out buildings and photographing. I say I am going to lose weight cuz we walked around all day from place to place. My feet are aching, but that is something I rather have then sitting at a desk all day.

We have met so many neat people and have heard so many cool stories about war, life on base, history of the base, etc. I met this one Special Agent today who is going to hook us up with VIP passes to Juarez next weekend!

One of the highlights of today was seeing 4 fighter jets fly overhead. The noise the formations were awesome!

Tonight a few people from the White Sands, NM group are coming down and we are going to check out downtown El Paso. I think tomorrow we may head to UTEP (University of Texas El Paso) to see that part of town. You know me being the tour guide...I have to evaluate the others.. ha ha ha

Great Barrier Reef

Today we spent the whole day on the Reef and it was soo amazing! We snorkled in two places and saw tons of fish. Angel and Butterfly were the two most common types! We did not see any sharks or sea snakes so I was happy. On the way out to the reef it took 90 minutes and and bunch of us sat on the bow of the boat and got toally soaked. I think the skipper was trying to throw us over! We got a really cool picture of us underwater also! I even got to wear this awesome wet suit! haha not really but it was fun and kept me warm. It was a bit cloudy but still very very fun!

Day 1 - Famiglia!

Waking up in Amalfi is quite glorious!  23 of us arrived yesterday on 7 flights with only minor travel delays! Our Villa hosts made us a delicious dinner and to no surprise with this family it turned into karaoke 🎤 as everyone tried to get a post travel day second wind. It's important to stay up as late as possible to adjust to the time change, they say 😉 This morning we woke up to cappuccinos and breakfast from our hosts to start day one of lounging. Today, was a very comfortable 80 degree day of pool, ping pong, catching up, and enjoying the views.  Zio Tony is making his famous pasta and meat sauce for dinner this evening 😋🍽️!  I think this view is what "sold" my mom on this house: Pool and hot tub: Our relaxing view of Amalfi: Dinner! Well, hello long lost travel buddy! Dusting off the old blog as we gear up for a month long adventure in Italy! The idea to travel was a part of my maternal grandparents plan once they passed, but none of us knew about it, which makes this plan extra special! They told my mom and her 3 siblings that a trip to Italy is what they wanted for us with any leftover money. They passed away 2 years ago, so this idea has been in the making for several years!  This trip carries extra meaning for us as my grandparents immigrated to the US in the late 60s. My grandma had to come over only with my mom, and secure work to prove her stability before my grandfather and uncles could follow. As we've gotten older my mom has shared more on her experience, and I have such respect and admiration for how strong my grandmother was - both in mind and physical grit to prove herself as an immigrant to be able to apply for a greencard.
