Y Entonces Y Entonces Y Entonces

(and then and then and then...)

So I spoke too soon! We are still in the land of Gauchos! Our plane had mechanical troubles as we were flying over Brazil so we had to turn around and land back in Argentina! We are booked on another flight tonight so fingers crossed we get back tomorrow morning.

Last night:

Amanda and I got to the airport yesterday with a plan in hand - check in, duty free shop, drink wine and get on plane. We rode in what was our scariest cab ride ever to the airport. I dont know why this place bothers to paint lines on the road...NO ONE FOLLOWS LANES! Our cabbie was driving 100 miles an hour swerving all over the place and we even past police cars! Amanda and I just kept our heads down and sang to the radio. Luckily, it was english so we rocked out to ¨I wanna Rock and Roll all night, and party every day¨

The check in process was a slow and discombobulated but somehow we were bumped up to economy plus! Following our plan we checked out what Duty Free had to offer and bought our share of tax free items. Following our plan we sat down and had what we thought was our last meal using Argentine pรจsos. We boarded the plane and settled in for our long flight ahead. We were hoping to get our snack, pop a nyquil and pass out. The plane was extra chatty and Amanda and I got scolded by the flight attendent since we were talking to our neighbors instead of learning about floatation devices,of which mine ended up falling out of my seat...guess i should have been paying attention.

It was stormy out but we took off on time (Buenos Aires On Time). Once in the air we put on our neck braces, and settled in for the 10 hour flight. About an hour and half into the fight Amanda was prepping for her sleep aids when was suddenly the captain came on the loudspeaker saying that there was a system failure and we were going to return to the airport. I was already asleep when this happened so Amanda shook me awake and told me the bad news. Thank goodness she didnt take her sleep aids! Then to add salt to our newly formed wound, we were told tht we had to circle the city for at least an hour to burn extra fuel because the plane was too heavy to land. This also meant we didnt get our second dinner. Boy were we upset..so we just decided to avoid reality and fall back asleep. We landed around 230am local time and were cattled hearded around the airport - back thru customs, baggage claim and then oustide to hop on a bus to a hotel for the night.

Silver lining: it was a posh hotel with a fancy clean bathroom and big double beds. They also porvided us with an international call home, (I guess to tell our parents we were not sure when we were actually getting home?!)and a hot lunch today. We slept like babies and took nice clean showers.

Gold Lining: we are across the street from our Hostel! This worked out great as we love the staff and they were happy to see us when we walked back in today asking to use their amenities for the afternoon.

We are probably going to watch a movie, play some pool and surf the web until we board the bus at 6pm to head back to the airport for our flight tonight.

In the end it´s about the Journey, not the Destination...

Its been a wild ride!
