We`ve Been In a Wonder!

Two days ago we made the best decision ever to buy two plane tickets to Puerto Igauzu! It was a choice we left up to the airlines and they played in our favor to provide us with the two last seats on an Thursday afternoon flight and returning late Friday night. I think we are still in awe of our day here! Did you know that Igauzu Falls is one of the 7 Wonders of the World!

We arrived Thursday afternoon at the domestic airport after a morning of shopping on Florida St. We were met with a very crowded check in line but ended up meeting a family from Rockville, MD. It turned out to be an easy process and we moved thru with ease. The rules here are way `lax compared to USA.

We meandered thru the Duty Free section since we had a few hours to kill )our plane was delayed an hour) and Amanda got a great idea to ask about buying wine to drink on the plane and later at our hostel. That turned out to be a great question since the answer was YES!

Walking thru the airport to our gate we ran into 2 other Robinson grads! Phil and Christine! They were on our same flight to see the Falls! Phil had been in contact with Amanda prior to the trip since we were all going to be in argentina the same week, but we werent sure if our paths would actually cross. A full conversation in English was a welcome change. They were telling us about their travels in Mendoza and their bus ride into Bs.As. It really is a small world that we met up a local airport in South America! As the 4 of us were catching up on life, we got in what we thought was the line to Iguazu Falls...Phil and Christine overheard someone say it was not the line going to Iguazu and stepped out. Amanda and I, on the otherhand, were not so lucky and continued on in the line until the lady collected our boarding passes and told us we were WRONG! We all had a good laugh!

The flight was quick and provided a good aerial view of the jungle canopy. We checked into our hostel and then quickly broke the rules. Apparently, you are not allowed to have alcohol in the rooms but we just had to drink fresh bottle from Duty Free. )Umm, earmuffs parents) We walked out to get some cheese and crackers and proceeded to get tipsy on my bunk bed before dinner. We had 30 minutes to chug the wine, and down the cheese and crackers...we were successful! The receptionist reserved a table for us at a nice Argentine BBQ called La Rueda, where we had fantastic steak and chatted with some guys from England. With our belly´s full of wine and steak we hit the hay for what was to be our worst night of sleep due to the heat.

No matter, we woke up bright and early for our 1 Day Iguazu Adventure! As we write this post we are in amazement of our experience today. We got to the park at 9am and went on a jeep ride thru the jungle and then took a speedboat INTO THE FALLS!!!! Just this week Iguazu Falls was renamed one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World. I think we have a one up now that we can say we have been IN a natural wonder. Please see the picture included in this post of Devil´s Throat as we have no words to do the park justice. It was something we will never forget! After the adventure filled morning, we spent the afternoon walking around the lower and upper circuts seeing the catoratas )waterfalls) from all different angles. Not to make all you americans jealous, but we were in bathing suits all day collecting as much sun as possible! Ahh it was a perfect day..i`d say 88, sunny with light winds.

Tonight we fly back to the Big Apple of the South for one more day of shopping and eating before departing for our long trip home.
