Colli Di Fontanelle Recovery day

Friday June 23

Yesterday we opted for a "recovery" day at the villa.

We had plans to take the ferry to Capri, but after going nonstop for a few days, and not wanting to push the kids past their limit, we made a late Thursday night decision to back out and visit Capri at another time. Several family members (sans kids) still went as planned.

We had a relaxing morning, did laundry, and walked to our local town, Colli Di Fontanelle, for lunch and to check out the local playground. The playground is relatively new, and there were about 5 other families there. Christian tried to make friends, but it ended with him being upset that he didn't succeed. The other kids knew each other and we're having their own game going on. An interesting experience to watch our kids out themselves out there and try different strategies to be included. While a bit tough to watch, I know they are building resilience! And learning valuable life skills.

After a bit, Christian and James decided to walk home while my dad, Cecilia and I came up with the plan to take the bus to Sant Agata to find a post office. We checked the timetable and we're all set for the 12:10 bus, when we realized at 12:30 the bus actually came at 11:50! It was early! The next bus wasn't coming until after 1:30. I suppose they operate on a loose schedule. The post cards will have to wait another day!

We ended up walking to the grocery store, and walked home to hang at the pool. Cecilia is loving the busses and was disappointed we missed a chance to ride the bus. Luckily, we'll be on busses all weekend!

Friday night was Villa Pizza and Karaoke 🎤 night set up by our hosts. We each made a pizza, including Nutella pizza for dessert, and took a turn on the Mic. One of my cousins, Nathan, is a very good singer (he sang in the San Francisco Gay Mans chorus) and went first to show us all up! Ha! Carmela and I did our off key version of Mama Mia! Christian asked to go to bed after that, so we may have given him a headache 🤣

It was a relativity early night as the bus comes at 830am Saturday to take us to Verbicaro (3 hours south) - the town my grandfather is from (and where my mom lived from 1965-1968, after leaving Colombia).

Ciao!
