Ravello - 8th Anniversary trip

Thursday, July 29. Day 13 in Italy!

James and I had a wonderful leisurely day in Ravello! We had breakfast at a cafe in the town square, finally mailed our postcards, and headed out to Cimbrone gardens.

I somehow took us the extra long hike adventure way, that was not actually an entrance, so good thing we had no time commitments or other plans! We finally arrived (very sweaty), and enjoyed the flora and sculptures. The gardens were somehow abandoned and found by a Lord in the late 1800s visiting Ravello to shake his depression from losing his wife. He found the land and bought it and restored it. Beautiful story.

Following the garden walk, we went to lunch at Cumpa' cosmio (had lots of famous pics - Travolta, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend.)

Ravello is known for its ceramics (and a month long July music festival (symphony)), so we window shopped today….did you know that 8 year marriage gift is pottery! It's meant to be, as this is our "anniversary" trip. I read this to James at dinner, as I'm big on signs and coincides : "pottery is symbolic of marriage in that it can be like a lump of clay: over time and with dedication, persistence and care, it is shaped into something truly beautiful, purposeful and long-lasting. By the 8th year, your marriage will feel strong, solid and fully-formed" Tomorrow maybe we buy something!

We spent the early evening relaxing at the pool, and went down to Marmorata for dinner at L'Antica Cartiera - a scenic spot on the water.

Meanwhile, back at the Villa our kids had a fun day with cousins in Sorrento 😃
