Friday in Ravello

Friday - Ravello

We spent Friday morning walking between all the ceramic shops trying to find our first piece of art together! #8years! There are two main ceramic shops in Ravello and we ended up going with the one that chat GPT also recommended 😉 - Pascal's! After spending an hour and a half looking at art and going back and forth on different designs we both settled on a blue and orange piece that we felt was unique, and tied in our wedding colors. We also thought about where we'd want to display in our house. So much to think about! Ha we should receive our piece in September!

After that we went to the Duomo di Ravello - built in the 11thj century - and took in the history and sculpting genius of the time. Mosaics on historic columns, and Christian relics. The church was beautiful and ornate. Ravello is known as a wedding destination, so it was cool to read their bulletin of all the upcoming weddings! We saw a wedding walking down the street each evening!

Across the street was the Villa Rufulo, named after the wealthy medieval family. It was bought and restored in the 1800s by a Scottish Lord, Sir Francis Nevile Reid. A beautiful property with gardens and magnificent views!

setting up for the concert series... Ravello is a music city! We missed opening night by 1 evening.

We ate lunch at Ristorante Vittorian, and then headed to our relaxing massages. We spent the evening napping and reading by the pool, ate dinner at Ristorante a Vista Sul Mare. (The name says it all!!) We ended our evening with gelato on steps of the Duomo watching kids play soccer in the piazza.

Ravello has steps everywhere and it is built in and around an old monastery so the walls are high, and narrowed corridors. The funny thing about the steps is that they are like one and a half steps wide so you never know how to walk and it was a fun thing to comment to two passers by as we're all walking awkward to get up and down the steps.

I have decided that taking two showers a day is totally normal because all we do is sweat around here from the heat and humidity! Linen clothing is the only way to go!
