Longest Trian Ride Ever

We started our long journey to our last country of the trip (Spain) aboard a fairly nice regional train. The train was basically empty, but we needed reservations that included assigned seating.
The reservations had amanda and i sitting across from eacho ther and not next to each other. No big deal we thought, we can just swtich and explain to the person in her seat that we were going to switch.

we forgot we were in France still, where they are big sticklers for the rules! Everywhere else we have gone we have been able to sweet talk, or sweet nod rather, our way into getting what we want. The French wont have it.

We wre sitting next to each other and the old man whose assigned seat was next to amandas made a scene and had her move over, making him inbetween us. He would not even listen to us asking us to switch with him. Oh well. Then the train made a stop where the old man got off and an old lady got on. She also faught with amanda saying that amanda was in the wrong seat all together. It appears that the old man was so mad that we were trying to swtich with him, he got confused and picked the wrong seat anyways haha. The old lady made amanda move her stuff so she could get the window. The two of us finally gave up and moved to unoccupied seats and played cards for a few hours. I won at Egyption Ratscrew and amanda won a Gin Rummy. We palyed about one hundred rounds of each before switching to blackjack.

Then the train made a stop in Montpielier, France for a few hours. There we met some Army guys who were also going to Spain, as they had leave from afghanistan. We boarded the regional train and made fast friends with the army guys at the bar. They were telling us good stories from overseas and made the long journey worthwhile. I started sneezing a lot.

We arrived in Barcelona around 10 at night and had to take the metro to our hostel. It was quite an experience. The guys were also staying at the hostel and when they put their stuff down in the metro to buy a ticket, their computer got stolen. Yikes, that reminded me to keep a close eye on my stuff. None of us even saw it happen.

We got settled in to the hostel room + we are staying with two girls a chinese and a brazilian. The hostel is dirty and has a few bugs, but it is located in a nice part of town.

Amanda and I had paella for dinner and then went to bed. The train ride really makes one tired.
